About
I grew up in a temperate rainforest. Born to charming parents, I’m the middle child between two siblings who continue to amaze me. Our parents took us on trips all over the world and like kids back in the day let us run wild.
After a lot of waitressing and doing a double honours in English and French at University of British Columbia (already a sign that I couldn’t bring myself to narrow my focus), I moved to Toronto where I almost failed my MA because I was going to so many pool halls and concerts with my boyfriend who became my husband.
Instead of narrowing my focus, I expanded it and went into Comparative Literature. That opened up the world to diverse ways of thinking. CompLit trained me to take discourses out of their silos, put them in the arena to see how the conversation changes. I completed my PhD then taught for years at University of Toronto.
Greatest thing that ever happened to my husband and me was the arrival of our two boys.
We moved back to the west coast because of my husband’s work. We’re still here and still blessed with lots of rain.
